An operable window you will need mechanical ventillation.
An in line fan will work to ventillate exhaust but you will require make up air that cannot be via the hvac so you ll need louvered door an undercut door transom or similar source for your make up air.
Wait a minute does my bathroom need a fan.
Check with your local code compliance officer as our fair city requires an exhaust fan in the laundry and one in the terlit room if there is no window.
Yes humidity created by the shower can cause mold.
Also wondering how mold got up in the ceiling.
Is there a window in this powder room.
Despite this archaic loophole and the time honored tradition of relying on a bathroom window which let s face it typically stays closed 90 of the time for ventilation and though you may technically be up to code with those three square feet of glass and screen it s just not enough.
This exhaust fan should not be needed and can therefore probably be eliminated entirely.
2017 code does not mention the use of a window as a substitute for an exhaust fan news to me it s always been an option.
While powder rooms can benefit from exhaust fans they can usually operate just as well with a window that opens.
