For more complicated textures or decals use a hair dryer on very low to soften the adhesive while pushing it into the grooves.

After needing to use a blow dryer to loosen the transfer paper just enough to get the vinyl onto my wooden project in order to save a very expensive product.

Another way to help this is to de stick your tape.
If any stickiness is left on top of the vinyl you can use an alcohol wipe to remove it without taking off the decal.

Now if you are going to hand wash your mugs you can probably use either adhesive vinyl or heat transfer vinyl and any of the application methods mentioned.
In a previous video we showed you how to use a heat gun to apply htv to a coffee mug.
Snipping through the transfer tape between the pieces of vinyl allowed me to more easily curve the decal around the mug.
Also you can apply the image rub it really well and either use a hair dryer for a quick heat blast or leave it for a few minutes then pull off the transfer tape and that may help.
If it s too sticky the vinyl will stay on the tape no matter what surface you are applying it to.

A viewer asked us if a hair dryer would do the same thing so we decided to test it out for her.
After i have weeded my vinyl and applied the transfer tape i used a hair dryer to warm the back of the transfer tape a little bit.

To achieve the best adhesion possible on a textured surface after you remove the transfer tape use your fingers or a soft cloth to very gently run the decal into the grooves of your texture.
