Do Club Djs Still Use Vinyl

My question is do they use the pcs to better mix the tracks or are the tracs all stored on mp3 lossless digital audio formats to remove the hasttle of.

Now that we know what do djs use you can start sketching your own setup according to your needs and requirements. The technology has advanced to a level where you can build a very decent dj rig for a fairly cheap price. Many djs still use vinyl especially now the the recent vinyl resurgence in the last couple of years. They don t put vinyl on those they simply assign tracks to the turntables with their laptop.

I d say especially club djs don t use vinyl anymore. The average random dance club dj someone who s not doing it as an artform uses a laptop controller setup that uses wavs or high quality mp3s to play music. Several clubs i work with have been refurbishing their technics 1200 decks since more djs are requesting them. Vinyl still has a place in modern djing although it maybe more of an enthusiast s thing kind of like film is to the photography world.

Some think the sound coming from vinyl is a bit rounder with a deeper bass and actually fuller the mp3 sound lacks the warmth which is why so many djs are coming back to the basics the vinyl that is. In one of the room in space there were atleast 4 in front of one djs. They may still have a turntable but that is a digital one which is just used to imitate scratches on digital files or mix to tracks together live. As you can probably imagine this additional flexibility is an awesome thing to have as a dj.

Back in the 1920s when the term disc jockey was used for the first time the djs used to play vinyl phonograph records on air and the trend continued for over 50 years. Vinyl is so much more forgiving and a bit of clipping created by a dj may give some unpleasant distortion if it comes. Real djs still very much use vinyl.

I noticed on my trip this summer a lload of laptops in front of djs. Yes djing on vinyl these days might seem like a bit of a step backwards for most of the aspiring jocks out there and for some even at bit antiquated.
